Fo I Have to Go Yhrough Vetpro Again if I Applied for a Transfer

VA (Department of Veterans Affairs)

The Usa has the near comprehensive system of help for veterans of any nation in the world. This benefits system traces its roots dorsum to 1636, when the Pilgrims of Plymouth Colony were at war with the Pequot Indians. The Pilgrims passed a law which stated that disabled soldiers would be supported by the colony. The establishment of the Veterans Administration came in 1930 when Congress authorized the President to "consolidate and coordinate Government activities affecting war veterans."

This forum also includes the Veterans Health Assistants (VHA).

Perhaps you are working for the VA or interested in working for the VA. Here is a forum to share your experience with the VA.

The Federal Career Intern Plan is designed to help agencies recruit and concenter exceptional individuals into a diversity of occupations.  It was created under Executive Order 13162 , and is intended for positions at form levels GS-five, 7, and 9.  In general, individuals are appointed to a 2-year internship.  Upon successful completion of the internships, the interns may be eligible for permanent placement within an agency.

Individuals interested in Career Intern opportunities must contact specific agencies direct.  The Office of Personnel Direction will not be the cardinal source for career intern opportunities.

          Hello

I just wanted to know if anyone else has been in this state of affairs. Well, I applied for a position at the
VA infirmary back in March, and so I was asked for a interivew in June. After the interview, I had to wait until the cease of July to recieve the message from human resources that the supervisor chosed me for the position. Now, I guess I'k in the new hire process. I've completed my online data for vetpro, I filled out all the paperwork that was needed for them, I have done my fingerprinting and concrete. Now, I'm waiting for human resources. It has been over four weeks since I finished my paperwork and three weeks since the physical and fingerprinting. How long do I accept to look until I start working?

              Hey Snowbird

Have y'all heard anything from the VA yet, considering my state of affairs is the same as yours. It has been close to a month since I have done the fingerprinting and concrete.

                Hullo,

I merely got the final offering today, and I start on Mon (Sep 13). It has been a very frustrating process. The position closed May 17, 2010, called to schedule and interview on June 5, 2010 for July vi, 2010, received a TO on Jul 23, 2010, completed all of the vetpro paperwork on Jul xxx, 2010. Paperwork went before the board Sep ii, 2010. HR called today to give me starting salary, and to gear up a showtime date. I was assigned a form ii, step ten. I am thrilled to be offered the opportunity and tin not wait to start. Best of luck to the residuum, it is non easy to be patient.

                  Howdy,
I went through the hiring process and was called with a showtime date.  Then I filled out the SF85 for a non sensitive position.  Groundwork is being done and I took my concrete.  I disclosed on my physical that in 1995 I was in track 4 in the Air Force for alcohol.  I knew I had to disclose it.  I went in 1999 for a private sector evaluation that stated I had absolutely no problems with booze.  I take never had whatever arrests or problems with employment and went to college and obtained my degree. No alcohol related bug.  At present I expect my fate like many.  I tin't even notice out if I passed my concrete.  All 60 minutes rep says is I commencement on the date she gave me and no hard paper to verify a business firm offer.  I have turned downward interviews.  SF85 went dorsum v years so this isn't a function of my background cheque.  Volition it disqualify me for my physical.  Any thoughts?

Congrats for those that were hired!!

I institute out I wasn't worthy of the VSR Rating position. It was my first Federal application and probably a weak 1 at best. I felt neat subsequently the interview but it wasn't meant to be( at least this fourth dimension around).

Anyhow, I also interviewed for VSR and hope something works in that respect. If that falls through, I will have to reassess my KSA's and resume. It's simply a long process and a challenge for an ego and patience.

I have also applied throughout the VA system in San Diego for numerous jobs. It'south seems that staying flexible might help.

Interviewed mid August, three weeks later received telephone from HR, got the job.  I am a transfer employee from govt bureau.  My kickoff date is 24 Oct 2010.  To those of you lot frustrated.  Don't requite upwards.  I applied for at least 30 govt jobs earlier I landed this one - GS-11.  Spend fourth dimension improving resume and application.   When I got the call to practice a phone interview, I asked for a face up to face up interview instead, they accepted and obviously liked me.  Don't know how long the fingerprint process takes, I should have asked.  Possibly I volition telephone call and find out tomorrow.  The lady did mention that I should receive an orientation package in the postal service.  Very long process.  I volition email HR in a few days if I don't hear anything.  Hour has been very good about answering questions.

Does anyone take any idea how long it takes a BI to be completed on SF85 only? No security clearance or public trust...merely elementary BI.

Simply received my FO yesterday.  The BI for SF-85 took nigh two weeks for me. It too depends on how long information technology takes your references to fill up out the forms and send them.  My entire hiring process was about 2 months and so I feel fortunate.

Depending on the VA that you applied to but in general the board meets every calendar week. The process of getting you cleared to work is a "process". With the VA everything takes longer than it should but for the position yous applied for in nursing here is the process.

                              1) Your application and qualifications are screened by the nurse recruiter and the Hr Specialist that has the nursing service.

                              2) If you are constitute qualified you lot basically have the job. The VA is always in need of qualified RN'south. LPN's no every bit much.

                              3) Side by side your information is verified past the HR department. Your information is checked by putting you into a application chosen "VetPro" you will be asked to log in hither and enter your data so it can be checked. What they are checking for here is your license.

                              4) While doing this they will also need to get a background screen for you so they may inquire you lot to get to the police department on site to give them your information and finger prints. If everything clears your on to the side by side step.

                              v) Then you are sent to boards the nursing boards consists of anywhere from 3 to 5 people usually. (Information technology has to be an odd number) Hither is where your pay will be adamant. Your experience, basically how long yous have been a nurse is the measure out used to decide your pay. This is a very easy affair for the board because there is a chart that tells them this. The board is really similar a follow up you could get more money if the board thinks you have more than in dept cognition from more education or awards. The board as well determines if you are kept later on probation and if you receive an pay increase when you are due.

half dozen) Finally a outset appointment has to be adamant for you. Start dates are always on a Sunday, you don't piece of work on the Dominicus but that is the way it is in the system. Your start appointment is determined past a few things and this depends on the VA. In most cases your name is sent to the ERB called the Executive Review Lath. They give the outset date based on funding and need.

                              7) Then you are notified usually past phone with an offer. If you take you will be sent an offer letter in the mail.
